Making a Referral

If you or a loved one has difficulties with eating, we advise you see your GP who will refer you to an appropriate treatment or service. We accept applications from GPs and healthcare professionals based on a medical assessment. The assessment will include the following:

– Service user’s weight, height, age and vital signs

– Blood tests taken one week before you are referred

– Professional view that the service user is not red on MEED guidance and is not an immediate risk

We can accept self-paying patients and you may self-refer, but please also ask your GP or healthcare professional to share your medical details with us via [email protected].

Before seeing your GP, you may find the following resources useful so you know what information to ask for:

RCPsych MEED Guidance

GP leaflet from BEAT

Admission Criteria

Bramacare Community is for adults aged 18+. Our team has a multi-therapeutic assessment process to confirm if our day care is the best option for the service user. While BMI is not the most important part of an eating disorder diagnosis, we recognise that a BMI of less than 14 would suggest the need for more intensive support than Bramacare Community can offer. In some cases we may recommend a service user remains on the NHS waiting list within an NHS Adult Community Service as a priority.

Referral Form

We invite all healthcare professionals to complete our online referral form below, which will be sent directly to our admission team. Estimated completion time is 10 minutes. Alternatively, email [email protected] and we’ll send you a document version.
