Governance

Contributing to a Sustainable and Equitable Future

At Bramacare, our mission is to support individuals in their rehabilitation from eating disorders, helping them regain control over their lives with dignity and respect. As a leading provider of rehabilitation care, we are committed to excellence not just in healthcare, but also in our responsibilities to society and the environment. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy reflects our dedication to these responsibilities and outlines how we contribute to a sustainable and equitable future.

Our Commitment

At Bramacare, we embed environmental, social, and governance principles into our decision-making, care delivery, and community engagement. This framework guides us in enhancing and protecting the communities we serve by being a responsible, proactive organisation. We hold ourselves accountable through transparent leadership, ethical practices, and continuous improvements. Our social responsibility initiatives are focused on supporting the well-being of both our service users and employees. We believe that by committing to these principles, we can improve lives, strengthen our workforce, and operate in a manner that promotes long-term sustainability.

Environmental Responsibility

Bramacare recognises the importance of reducing our environmental impact in all areas of our operations. Although we are a small organisation, we take proactive steps to implement sustainable practices that help protect the planet. This includes reducing energy consumption through LED lighting and energy-efficient systems at The White House, sourcing eco-friendly and ethically produced materials, and promoting robust recycling and waste management practices to reduce landfill contributions. We are also focused on reducing our reliance on paper by embracing digital solutions across our operations, significantly cutting down on paper use and conserving valuable resources. Additionally, we have introduced gardening initiatives to grow our own vegetables, fostering a connection with nature while promoting sustainable, self-sufficient food practices. The fresh produce from our gardens is integrated into our services, further reflecting our commitment to sustainability.

Social Responsibility

Bramacare’s commitment to social responsibility is evident in the compassionate care we provide to our service users, the support we offer our staff, and our engagement with the broader community. At The White House, our focus on rehabilitation from eating disorders places social well-being at the heart of everything we do.

We take a person-centered approach to care, ensuring that each individual receives tailored rehabilitation that addresses both their physical and mental well-being. Service users are encouraged to engage with the community through socialising, volunteering, and participating in meaningful activities that foster independence and personal growth. We actively involve our service users in decision-making about their care and rehabilitation plans, creating an inclusive, respectful treatment environment. By integrating evidence-based tools such as the Eating Disorder Examination Questionnaire (EDE-Q) and the Eating Disorders Quality of Life Scale (EDQLS), we ensure that our interventions are data-driven and tailored to the specific needs of each service user.

Our commitment to employee development and well-being is reflected in the training programs and professional development opportunities we offer. We provide mental health first aid training for key staff members and ensure that our staff have access to 24/7 mental health support, including professional mental health services and a GP. We value inclusion and diversity, fostering an environment where all staff feel respected, valued, and empowered to contribute.

Governance and Ethical Practices

At Bramacare, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of governance. We create a culture of transparency, ethical decision-making, and accountability at every level of our organisation. We work in alignment with regulatory standards set by healthcare authorities to ensure our services meet or exceed the required standards. Regular audits and quality assurance reviews help us maintain the safety and effectiveness of our care.

Our use of our bespoke Auditing platform on Monday.com, allows us to streamline data collection and analysis across compliance domains, including health and safety, food safety, fire safety, care planning, and person-centred care. This system enables real-time tracking and reporting, ensuring swift action on areas for improvement. Through ongoing internal audits and the use of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), we continually strive to improve quality and safety, effectiveness of staff training, and compliance with environmental and governance standards.

We value collaboration and open communication, working closely with external agencies such as face-to-face training providers, service users’ home teams, medical practices, and regulatory bodies like the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In addition, we maintain active engagement with key professional bodies such as The Royal College of Psychiatry, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the British Dietetic Association (BDA), ensuring that our services meet the highest standards.
